Introduction

The BRDF/BTF acquiring system consists of 8 cameras and 6 LED light sources. The cameras are installed on a rotatable arched arm, and the LEDs are installed on a fixed arched arm. The samples are put on a turntable. The data are acquired by rotating the light arm and turntable.

The BRDF data can be read by a C example program, and the BTF data are color images in BMP format.

BRDF General Information

• All the materials in the database are isotropic materials.

• Theta_out ranges from 0° to 70°, interval 10°.

• Theta_in ranges from 20° to 70°, interval 10°.

• Phi_out is constant 0°, then Phi_in equals to |φ_i-φ_o|, ranging from 20° to 180°, interval 10°.

• Unreliable measurements are filled with negative values (-1) and should be ignored when using the data.

BTF Dataset

BTF General Information

• Each sample has 6336 images (96 views and 66 light directions) with 256x256 resolution.

• Theta_out ranges from 0° to 70°, interval 10°.

• Phi_out ranges from 0° to 330°, interval 30°.

• Theta_in ranges from 20° to 70°, interval 10°.

• Phi_in ranges from 0° to 330°, interval 30°.

• There are no images in the angles where Phi_in equals to Phi_out.

• Image naming: Samplename\outTheta_Phi inTheta_Phi.bmp. Example: bamboo\out30_60 in50_330.bmp.
